Holiday Meeting on Zoom

Co-Presidents' Message

From the desks of Alice Huang and Tricia Hunstock

Dear Alliance Members,

Thank you for your long time support of the SSVMSA and the dedication that your support goes towards improving community health in our Sacramento community.

The Art of Medicine is our most important fundraiser that we hold every other year. This year, the AOM Committee, chaired by Linda Meyers and Mary Sosa, has been hard at work to pivot from our traditional gala format held at Del Paso Country Club to a virtual auction that will take place on the GiveSmart platform. The virtual auction is set to take place from November 7-15th. Your financial support is ever so important this year.

As an Alliance community, we are adapting to new ways that we can help improve community health in this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. We established a special pandemic task force to help us identify ways that we can help the members of our community who are vulnerable as we are entering winter months and with wildfires. The board has approved special grants to support the health-related needs of our area.

The success of the 2018 AOM auction has allowed us to give $13,000 in nursing scholarships, $6,000 in nursing scholarships, and $50,500 in community health grants. In addition, we gave $5,000 for PPE and Fire Victim Support to our local community. We need your help now more than ever.

With providing the 2020 virtual format, the AOM committee has carefully and thoughtfully considered the overhead expenses of making this giving opportunity possible, at this point in time, we have ways to go to meet our same levels of giving-ability to the community. You can help in several ways:

1.  The auction is virtual this year, Please share the auction website with your social network.      aom2020.givesmart.com.  We will be rolling out exciting experiences and donations for you and your friends and family to consider for holiday gifting that is around the corner.

2.  Make a reservation to see the beautiful donations of artwork in person. We are taking social distancing precautions. The artwork comes to life when viewed in person! To make a reservation go to aom2020.givesmart.com. More details below in the message from our AOM Chairs.

3. Donate NOW at https://www.ssvmsa.org/Donate

4.  Patty Roberts has helped us create a Facebook link that you can post on your FB page. If you have any questions about how to spread the word for AOM, please do not hesitate to email us at SSVMSAlliance@gmail.com.

Lastly, Our Holiday Sharing Card Campaign is underway. Thank you for those of you who have supported this fundraiser that benefits our Community Endowment Fund and scholarships. The link to support the longstanding HSC tradition can be found at https://www.ssvmsa.org/hsc.

Our deepest gratitude for your support! Most Sincerely,

Alice Huang and Tricia Hunstock on behalf of the SSVMSA Board of Directors

We are only 1 week away from the AOM Preview Exhibition and Auction!  Why should you and your friends attend the Exhibition?  Only those in attendance can take advantage of the opportunity to BUY IT NOW.  You can take home your favorite painting, jewelry and wines for the "Buy It Now" price.  This off is only available to those attending the preview weekend. Gather your friends and make a reservation by going to aom2020.givesmart.com.  For your safety, reservations are limited to 10 people per half hour time slots. Masks are required.

If you cannot attend that weekend but wish to bid you must register online by going to aom2020.givesmart.com. You must register on the website prior to bidding which will not begin until November 7th at 10:00am.

As the auction is online, anyone can participate. The success of our  Community Grants and Scholarship Programs is dependent on your help. Please share the link with family, friends and colleagues so that they can bid on an item or support our community grants and nursing scholarship programs.

If you have any questions about the exhibition, how to register for the auction or how to invite friends to participate, Please contact us at masosa5@gmail.com

Sincerely, Linda and Mary

Book Club

Due to COVID 19 and the need to be outside, the book club has adapted by being more flexible with it's meeting times and limiting the meetings to 8 people.   Due to colder weather the Book  Club will determine dates via email. The November  meeting will be held at the home of Mariann Fischer. If it is too cold, we will move it to the home of Jerilyn Marr who has outdoor heaters. To RSVP for future dates, contact Mariann Fischer at mafish42@surewest.net.
